With 5 rounds of 11 completed, we sit at 1-1-2 having played out our bye in the 4th round. Our draw came against FaDe, extending their run of draws to 3 and breaking our 2 loss streak to start the season. Though having not won a game going in to the bye, we had at least been competitive in a couple of the matches.
In round 5 came a hard fought victory against fellow early round struggler Fusion Slugs. From the win, we hope to draw some momentum for round 6 against QED Krrn and Co and beyond. We come in to the match expecting a closely fought bunch of sets, though we know we need to win if we want to catch the front runners. With the 4-2 loss against QED Mixed Lollies in the 1st week of play, it was a close thing. A couple matches were well contested 2-1's, and if either had gone our way it would have been a draw or possibly a win. Knowing that ML is arguably the "better" QED team, we draw some confidence from our close encounter and hope it spurs us to a victory.
After QED Krrn, our draw gets ridiculous, giving us 3 of the strongest teams in the league one after the other, then one of the pre-season favourites in TCP. Only in round 11 do we get some relief, finishing our season against a currently under-performing HoH team. A win in round 6 is devastatingly important, as for the 4 weeks afterwards, points could be hard to come by. If we are able to escape the 4 round gauntlet with maybe a win and a draw or two, we may be well poised to dash for some end of season glory.
While the season so far has been tough, and only look to get tougher, we will be sure to put up our biggest fight and try to secure a good finish. As Volition stated, not much has been said about VB, good or bad. We hope to earn the respect of the league and start hearing the good things.
Potthead Out.
