Hey guys, I'm looking for parts for a computer for my mum. She is only doing basic work shit on it like microsoft office stuff and basic internet use. Looking for about $400-$550, don't need monitor or peripherals and it will need win7. Any help is really appreciated
they still make celerons.... seems fine i would have just expected a cheap i3, or if she really wants something small and neat one of the more recent atom models which fan fit in an even smaller case if you want to fiddle around with one... I've used that case before for my parents and it's pretty decent, but all those small ones are a bitch to work in.
Well for 1, those computers you linked are way over budget and 2, I can get it all delivered to my house/get my brother to drive 5 minutes to umart to pick it up, and 3, have 2 years warranty on everything anyway.

Why would you say your budget is $550 if $499 is over budget? That includes Windows by the way - you aren't getting windows legally within your budget with those parts you listed.
The difference between Dell and Umart warranties is Dell's is NBD onsite (so they come to you tomorrow and swap parts) - Umart warranty is return to manufacturer... Last warranty issue I had, it took 3 months.
If you can wait for bargains my computer cost me $520
AMD x4 840
MSi 740GM-P25
8GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance
GTX480 (Second Hand)
Antec HCG 750W PSU
CoolerMaster CM690 II
Fr really budget but un-upgradable computers grab a AM2/AM3 CPU that is Quad Core... They are really cheap, then just buy a cheap motherboard, 8GB of DDR3 RAM is like $50 new now and a CoolerMaster Centurion II w/500W PSU with an ok graphics card is like $400 MAX
EDIT: That PC you posted is really bad and way over prices. CM Centurion II is a decent case w/500W PSU for like $80
u mart is a nono. never ever rely on there warrantys. they will try as much as they can to not give you money back for broken items.
+ your better off with a 1tb, hardrives that are usually lower cost the same amount now
check if the old dvd drive is a ide or sata drive. who knows it could be a sata and you can re use it on the new one.
as with graphics cards, why are people recommending actual cards? :P
it's cheaper to by a mobo now that has inboard graphics.
you can grab a legit copy for 89 - 90 at u mart or msy. so it should still fit into your price range.
edit: msy is fine with cases and stuff like dvd drives but don't trust them for more important stuff such as cpu/ mobo/ psu and ram
Head over the the Build-a-PC subreddit [reddit.com/r/buildapc] and outline what you need and what your constraints are, and they'll suggest a build and fits, making sure all of the parts work together.
