Did anybody around Australia attend Soundwave Festival? The South Australian one was Saturday 5th, and damn, it was epic. My first festival and live concert, and was well worth the killer sunburn I got(there's this thing called sunscreen or something?? :P)
The 2 hour Iron Maiden set was, put simply, incredible. One Day As a Lion was crazy, Zach de la Rocha was jumping around the stage like a mad man, and was definitely a good show. Had to leave Slayer halfway through though, just as Raining Blood started However, was happy with the decision. All That Remains was awesome too, and even Less than Jake who I'd never heard any music from was a great chill start to the day. Primus was funky, and the 50 minutes set they played left me weirded out to an extent.
This years line-up was epic, but if the last few years is anything to go by, somehow next years will be even better. Can't wait til the announcement for 2012 and will be eager to go if there's some bands I'd enjoy watching.
Went this year and last year, and this year was so so much better.
I saw:
Rise to Remain
Devildriver (absolutely crazy)
Dimmu Borgir
30 Seconds to Mars
Queens of the Stone Age
Iron Maiden (Incredible as expected, went to the show at Hisense on Wednesday as well)
bits of All That Remains, Amity Affliction, Slayer and I'm sure I forgot a few.
Still upset that I ended up forgetting New Found Glory were playing and that Sum 41 cancelled ><
I caught a bit of Rise to Remain as I walked past and they sounded good. I almost caught BOTH drum skins at Iron Maiden but they were just a little too high, but bounced near me
Also saw Sevendust, who were good too. I really don't know of anyone who was bad, except for Bullet for my Valentine, who I really don't like that much of. Waking the Demon was ok though.
Rise to Remain were so much better at Soundwave than they were when they opened for Maiden earlier in the week. I'm definitely going to look into getting some of their music. Bad luck on the skins :P
Yeah, I used to like Bullet waaaay back, but their last two cds were pretty disappointing imo, so I didn't even bother checking them out. They play here a couple of times a year don't they?
