Way back in the BW days i used to call myself Mr.Furious or various riffs on the name "Furious" including "furious(56k)" and the highly maxtreme "feeldafury".
This translated into everyone calling me "fur" when in chat. So eventually I just shortened it down...
My favourite character in Barry Eisler's "John Rain" Assassin novels is a loud-mouthed marine sniper by the name of Dox; earning his nickname for his employment of unorthodox tactics. I've always been a fairly unorthodox player, so I figured it fit.
Unfortunately unorthodox doesn't necessary mean successful.
Cruxis is a fictional organization in Tales of Symphonia. At the beginning of the game, Cruxis is thought to be a society of holy beings who protect the worlds in the religion Church of Martel. They are thought to be a good force in the game until the group reaches the Tower of Salvation, where it all changes.

I had heaps of lame names during my Counterstrike days. When I made my sc2 account I had just watched this episode of the simpsons and the rest is history.

"Koreans own white dudes" - Moon
I recall creating my first email account and having no idea so doing my 11 year old impersonation of latin swears = fatcrapinius.
When I started playing CS i randomly changed it to fatpigsucker... and many of my opponents would ask; "But are you a fat pig that sucks? Or do you SUCK fat pigs?" I would reply by headshotting their entire team with the USP and laughing maniacally.
When the days of Warcraft 3 came along and I joined a big clan that was dominating US West at the time [FTR], I had to create a new account so I changed to 'pig.random' because I was a random player and fatpigsucker just didn't sound quite right...
The years wore on and all I was left with was a love of those pink, curly tailed wondrous beasts! From the pink and cuddly-babe style ones, to the huge mofo boars that rip people's faces off...
I once found a massive centipede in the garden, and my dad told me it was called a Mukade, and I thought it sounded cool. Also, Mukade was my favourite character from the video game Oni.
Back when I first started playing games online (duke 3d/halflife dm) era I was always changing my name and never found one I like. Thought of XanT one day and just liked it
I never had an IGN and just made a new one every day whether they were random smiley faces, song/band names or an angry comment at the weather. Eventually someone tried to recruit me into a clan and my tag was SSSSLLLAAAYYYYAAARRRRR at the time so I shortened it and put the clan tag behind it.
I used to play WoW, and was rolling a male night elf warrior. I wanted this character to be serious, not like all the ones before it where I was messing around (hadn't gotten to max level before, was determined this guy would be my first) with characters like Frozennipple. Googled "elf name generator", ran it a couple of times till I got one I liked and BAM Avelestar was born. I ended up playing that game night and day for 2 years and it almost ruined my life....but I quit and never looked back, but the name was still a part of me.
Me and my friend played quake 2 on PC way back in the day.
The default name was FreshMeat
So when we tried to get our friend to join in quake 2 with us we decided to come up with suitably insulting and nooby name based off of the default. (despite me also being pretty bad at the game :P)
I came up with "Meatex_Salami" which I thought was funny and original so I took it as my own. Shortened to Meatex after a few years.
Interesting side note, I have not seen another Meatex in any game on anything but I did notice a guy who was a member of a cracking group with the Nick "Meatex_Salami" 0.o
Was usually some variant of Eddie, but decided to join clan FaDe, so figured it was time to get a more unique alias for gaming, so thought of FaDeEdOne. Sort of name in its self
Personally, this is one of the most interesting threads!! Its so intriguing how varied and different we all came to our ingame names. Some, like myself, based it on people we met, others are random, yet others are spurned from experiences, either old and just moments ago.
