I'm only a Silver/Gold level player at the moment but I decided to buy a KR account because I had some spending money and I believe in throwing myself in the deep end to flail around until I can swim. (True story, did that once when I was a little kid and almost drowned.) I won 3 out of 5 placements and got Silver so I was glad that I atleast didn't have to fight my way out of bronze again. I noticed that if anyone types "gg" it is usually at the beginning of the game and not the end. After having a terran swear at me in Korean and rage quit when my overlords spotted his drop and I stopped it with mutas as well as meeting a few friendly Koreans who vigorously typed many many messages through the game I took my thus far very basic knowledge of Korean and hacked together this basic phrase to type ingame whenever being bombarded with messages I can't read. "나는 외국인... 초보 한국 언어" I am still not 100% sure if I'm saying it right, but they seem to get the picture and stop talking when I type that. Overall I have really enjoyed playing on the ladder and eagerly await my promotion into higher leagues as I train.

Man, I am pumped! Wish I didn't get promoted to plat immediately, it's more fun to work my way up. TW/KR doesn't trash talk or start raging like they do on NA. Guess that's because I use an english name and they don't speak english.
But yeah, even Bronze and Silver players are aggressive and know some builds. It's not like NA where they're passive all the way through platinum and I could just expand 4 times before making a rax/gate/pool. These players actually scout and check you out.
For example, this replay is a TvT, the guy is platinum. I went CC first and he started tripping out looking for a proxy rax XD I may have angered him, but who knows. You guys be the judge.
I see myself spending a lot of time on TW/KR
Thanks for this service Nirvana. Would've been difficult to get a key otherwise.
The level of play seems to be slightly higher, am high diamond on SEA, mid plat on KR (probably because not many games played). Was placed straight into plat.
Apart from the gameplay differences, I got a huge confidence boost playing on the KR server. I didn't have to deal with any BM at all. There were no menus to distract me, no custom games that took my interest (mostly because I didn't know the language). There was only goal of hitting the "find match" button and focusing 100% on playing my best. It's also given me a much more aggressive playstyle.
It's definitely worth playing on the KR server, even for a short amount of time. Even though I only managed to get to ~20 wins on the server before time ran out (accidentally left the client open :/), I'll definitely be picking up a full copy shortly.
Oh, and all the units sound infinitely more bad-ass in the TW version than the SEA (English) version. TW HTs don't take shit from anyone.
Most of the people I get will say gl hf gg at the start and gg when they lose. I am plat on SEA/NA (i should be diamond but i haven't ground the ladder enough :P) and I can tell you now that the plats on KR are much, MUCH more difficult. I haven't lost to a plat player on NA and SEA for a few weeks now, but I struggle to keep a 50% vs KR plat players just because their all-ins are sooo much stronger. Also, they can actually use forcefields XD

I'm looking forward to trying out the KR server as soon as I get paid. Thanks for the stories, I'm excited to play in a ladder with less BM (or at least, less BM that I can understand ).
I really enjoyed my time on the KR server through a free trial. I am gold on SEA and plat on NA, and got placed into Gold after going 4 out of 5 (and losing to the only other guy in the sc2sea channel, damn you Oak!!).
i found it really rewarding to just go on there, know no-one and just play. was really easy because you didnt get distracted chatting in different channels (damn you Clanless), or chatting to mates. you are on there to play, and you do.
I saw more insane stuff in that 7 hour trial than i have anywhere else. I am sure that some of the strats being used are used in leagues above diamond, but i had never had plats or diamonds fron SEA/NA do what these golds were doing to me. like hellion marine drops in early game tvt, and 4 gate dts, just always these mad builds.
Eventualyl i got to chatting with some of the guys after the game, their english was not so great, but between google translate we got there - and it was rewarding because we both loved starcraft 2, and wanted to play heaps more. the language barrier wasnt as big as i thought, becuase we had a common language - starcraft 2.
Also, because there are no audio clues, it makes you focus onthe visual play moer and not rely on audio clues to get you through. i cant tell you how many times my 8 rax were supply blocked, and i noticed when coming back to the SEA server ig ot supply blocked a whole lot less, probably because it was something i had to focus on over there.
Do i think it is worth spending the money if you could use it on somethign else? no. But if you have the cash, and can clear your bonus pool on two servers already, why not go for a third bonus pool?
it was actually really fun, and if a chance comes up to get a free 7 hour trial, do it.

my first experience in KR was great, the players here are so good!
first ever placement was a chinese who just turtled for 10+ minutes off a FFE and just 2 sg mass void rays. i didn't scout it in time and there were like 10+ then i just massed mutas and queens, start spreading creep all over, and while void rays were in the middle of the map, i just ling run by him, his wall wasn't very good.
the first ever korean (or guy who has name in hangeul) i played was terran, did a 2 base marine/tank timing that almost killed me. I countered with mass lings (like i watched stephano do once and which worked!) and i won. the first korean i was matched up with and i won! such a great feeling... then i lost a lot afterwards as i got matched with really good players...
I play on KR/TW right now as my main server, i don't play in SEA/NA i'm currently saving up for a full box (played on it via prepaid before) and i'm looking for practice partners or groups over there and i'm really motivated right now to get better, good practice would be great. i don't losing, as long as i'm learning what channels do you guys hang out in btw
TW/KR, is awsome, from bronze to GM, they´re level is higher and they know how to micro on lower leagues, (In other servers they A+click until diamond).
did 3/2 on the qualifiers.
i got my account quite a long time ago, and although i went 5-0 on placements, you can really tell the difference between the servers. The games there are good
The first thing I did on the KR/TW server was attempt to hax into the Incredible Miracle chat. I found Nestea but it wasn't him actually, just a fan boy. Exciting stuff the korean server
First thing I did when I got my KR account was practice cheeses (with tournament play in mind). So I went like 3-2 in placements and ended up in bronze. Have been slowly climbing up to gold where I'm at on other servers. I can't rep Volition, but he has said it perfectly.
One of the biggest differences in bronze and silver is that players will actually attack you. On SEA I remember it was common for no attacks to happen for the entire first 15 minutes of the game at low levels. It makes it into more of a battle, which I really enjoy
Hehe. I got my KR account last week. Won 5/5 placements and placed into platinum. Now I am getting THRASHED by the plat players there - they are so much better than plat players I've played on SEA/NA (I am plat NA and SEA). I've found that even in these lower leagues, they play a lot more aggressive than the other servers - they can actually micro and harass effectively, which gives a good challenge. I'll probs get demoted to gold at this rate, but at least it will help me step up my game! :-)
