I thought our thread was long overdue for a bump as I have seen, albeit only a couple, people asking if iVn is still around and with all the 'house clan' business going on I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to post this little update.
So here's a brief recap of the results from some of our players at ACL Melbourne...
Going into ACL Melbourne we had a pretty solid number of iVn representatives at the event, with a total of 7 (1 playing LoL ^__^) players making it into the competition. It was half the active roster and our biggest turn out at any ACL LAN event. Five players duked it out in the open bracket which was probably the hardest open bracket ACL has ever had.
Depending on how you look at it, iVn got some pretty interesting bracket drafts. Out of the 4 possible brackets we could of been put into, 3 players made it into the top half of group B (Novax, Surge and Birkses) and the remaining 2 in the top half of group D (ZenAku, Xormentor). Considering how close all the iVn members were in the bracket there was no surprise that there was to be team kill eventually, which happened in round 1 between Surge and Birkses. Looking at it positively, at least iVn was guaranteed representation later on in the brackets.
So at the conclusion of the open bracket we had 3 top 4 finishes including 1 qualifying for pro group play. Having Xormentor make it through was a great achievement for him, and made it so we had two players from iVn in the pro group stages with PhoenixA already qualifying through points thanks to his performances in the online rounds.
Xormentor and PhoenixA came into the pro groups as more of 'up and coming' players, their results aren't surprising but at the very least gained invaluable experience.
Overall a very promising performance from our guys, looking forward to what the future holds.
And as usual we're still looking for clan wars against M/GM clans for anyone interested.
