Today we’re proud to announce the addition of Joshua ‘Stitch’ Shum who will act as the Head Media Manager here at Seraphic Nexus. With the rapid growth of the organisation and with SNX.TV in the works we’ve been in need of a helping hand in the media department to keep everything running smoothly and at a high quality. Josh approached us about the position, and after talking we knew he was the perfect fit for the job with his experience and determination to promote eSports. We were able to grab an interview with Josh to give us all an insight of not only his vision for the organisation, but also about himself.
Firstly welcome to Seraphic Nexus! Would you care to introduce yourself?
My name is Joshua Shum. I'm a Chinese, Year 12 High School student studying at an American School in Hong Kong. For many in the StarCraft 2 South East Asian/Australian/New Zealand community, I am better known as "Stitch". I have been a commentator for the StarCraft II SEA/Oceania since 2011. I've casted many online tournaments and most notably I've travelled to Singapore in the fall of last year for The Games Xpo 2012 Singapore to be the commentator for StarCraft. At the moment I also host a weekly show called "PassionCraft" where I do an interview about the most passionate StarCraft members of the SEA/Oceania region.
What does this opportunity for working with Seraphic Nexus mean to you?
Working with Seraphic Nexus is an opportunity that fits perfectly with me. Knowing that Seraphic Nexus aspires to be working and developing in an international scene, being based in Hong Kong and meeting their needs in media coverage means a lot to me. For a while I've been trying to find an organization that can fit my aspirations to develop professional media coverage for games such as StarCraft, and Seraphic Nexus appears to be the perfect home for me to do that.
As the Head Media Manager here at Seraphic Nexus, what are your plans for the organisation?
As the Head Media Manager at Seraphic Nexus, I plan to bring in consistent professional production for multiple games with our new and upcoming SNX.TV branch. What this means is we will not only have media production that meets global standards, but we will also be looking crucially at the crew we recruit and work with.
Outside of the organisation, what are your personal aspirations?
Outside of the organization, joining Seraphic Nexus for me is a real change for my timetable. For a long time I have been only focusing on StarCraft and rarely taking time off to try other games. But with my new role at Seraphic Nexus, this really allows me to open myself up more to other games and to know more about the other amazing communities in eSports. Hopefully in the near future I will be able to see beyond the StarCraft world of things and expand my knowledge of the eSports movement!
Thanks for the interview Josh! Any shoutouts or additional comments?
Although now in a new position and not a full-time StarCraft commentator, I still have a lot of awesome and even better news to announce. You can like my facebook page at http://facebook.com/stitchstarcraft and follow me on twitter at http://twitter.com/SNXStitch. In addition to all of this, a big shoutout goes to Stuart "Braxius" Wright and Dominic "DoMo" Anderton for making this opportunity happen for me. Hope to bring you guys the best of media coverage.
We’re extremely glad to have Josh on board and excited for the quality content he will be producing to provide coverage for the organisation and its players. Please give a warm welcome to Josh as he becomes a part of the ever growing Seraphic Nexus family!
