Hi, I'm Uncuepa! Long time SC2 player, lover of eSports and a complete unknown.
I have caused a bit of a stir this afternoon with talks of a "SEA Starleague" and I may have started off a little strong but my intentions are to create focused, longform, casual SEA competitive play. My original intention was to have a multi-week long round robin ending in a tournament of the top 8/16 (depending on player count) but after long discussion it has been made clear a short tournament to establish myself in this community would function much better.
So my intentions now are to host an open 1-2day tournament shortly after the launch of LotV, most likely with a $100aud prize pool and live casting.
Obviously, being new you have reasons not to trust me, so allow me to present what I can offer! I fancy myself quite the graphic designer and digital media producer. I have done quite a lot of small graphics jobs and have taught myself a multitude of professional grade editing software, my main choices being Sony Vegas Pro and Adobe Premier Pro. I also like to think out my projects and direct people on projects. With this, I hope I can offer innovative and creative opportunities in SEA esports.
With this said, I cannot do it alone. So I am asking you, the SC2SEA community, what can I do to help you grow? With the release of LotV, we will see a rise in players again, and so no better time than now to draw them into esports!
Showing you can take on some constructive feedback and build yourself up is a great way to start. Looking forward to seeing you more around here friend!

I'd wait a little bit. Hopefully the leagues in LotV are fixed a bit cause atm GPD is completely dead and obviously BSG has been dead for ages.
If this goes ahead hopefully it could be like a SEACL kinda deal with a GPD section and a Master/GM section.
I like your idea of just some small weekly tournaments to build your brand up and then transitioning into the big Starleague idea you have. I think the idea of a Starleague for SEA is awesome. GSL format would be best with a week+ in advance to prepare for your opponents and group selections, that kinda thing.
Obviously the dream would be to have it all take place in booths at a LAN but yeah NAH LOL maybe some day.

Firstly, I would suggest just hanging around the community and getting to know us, and let us to get know you a bit more. I was probably a bit rough in chat-box about your ideas, but it felt as if you were, initially, just attempting to gatecrash a community you know next to nothing about. Though people will probably confirm I'm a bit of an asshole.
My other advice would be to check out some of the other tournaments that are running, and talk to those who are the main tournament organizers on SEA. Elusory and Eddie are worth their weight in gold with the information and knowledge they have about Tournament organization and the SEA community in general.

I look forward to seeing your ideas put into place, a SEASL would be amazing. As Philosopher mentioned, to build some street cred I would maybe coordinate with the other established organisers, who i'm sure can provide you with the administrative and technical assistance one would need in setting up a regular event. Good luck!
