Hey guys Ice here, gonna give you guys a recap/blog about how i feel the recent WA LAN went
This Saturday just gone, there was a LAN held in Joondalup in the Fragzone Lan Cafe WA. During the weeks leading up to the LAN the we thought we were gonna get upwards of 20 signups come the day, we only ended up having 12.
Never the less the LAN went on, Notable absentees were Mvp and Armi. Due to such a small crowd we changed the formats to bo5's so all the lads could have a fair crack and enjoy themselves which i hope all did. On to my games
R1 Ice vs Skitz - The first round i was put up against the owner of Dynasty in a match we both didnt want to play. I ended up making quick work of skitz who isnt the most talented at sc2 but still gave it a crack for the sake of reviving the scene in WA
R2 Ice vs Swarmstika - The second round was when the real competition started. After i took a game of swarm in an internal ETL comp i thought this series was gonna be a lil less one sided than it actually was. Swarm was on point in all 3 games and beat me comprehensively 3-0 he really did make me look like a . Great Macro followed by on point timings lead to a series for me to forget
R3 Ice vs Zealos - After my loss to Swarm i was faced with another PvZ and yet again lost Game 1 however this time i found a way to channel the protoss within and managed to fight back and take the series 3-1 after g2 and 3 being comfortable wins it was down to a base race in g4 and i remembered how good voids were
R4 Ice vs Fullmetal - Going into this round i knew i had to make something happen and in game one i did, i was able to take the game with proxy DT's , after that my unorthodox strategies were not enough for me to win, Proxy natural, Proxy Tempest and Pigbaby's 4 gate carrier build were not enough as i was sent packing from the Tournament
After my loss i went and casted for the rest, GooseJuice providing an upsetting but amazing comeback vs Fullmetal after being 2-0 down he came back and won 3-2 then casted Swarmstika and Goose, Eagerly anticipating this series i was somewhat let down by how one-sided it was unfortunately my clan mate Swarm couldnt get the job done
Which Leaves the Final - Frustration vs GooseJuice - Frust had only lost one game all day and that was with proxy carriers , Game 1 was so back and forth and i thought that Goose might be able to take a few games of frust but true to form frust pulled though with some amazing storms and great macro, after that it went down hill for Goose and Frustration ran away with the title and $320
Special thanks to Adrobial (Dan) for casting all day and putting up with our riff raff great caster https://www.facebook.com/Adrobiel
This was the furthest run ive had in a LAN finishing in the top 6 its also the furthest i've travelled all in all was a great day. Hope there is more to come and hope we took the first step in reviving the sc2 scene in WA
I enjoyed myself quite a bit despite getting third degree rekt in the final
hopefully we'll see some more perth players crawl out from hibernation at the next rflan
