So a while ago there was a blog about there sc2sea story and how they came to know sc2sea. I was asked by Nirvana at the time about my sc2sea story and I was lazy/summer mode so was like meh im sure no1's really interesting but in case some people are here it goes, i apologise in advance for spelling and grammer cos mines rubbish. I'm also going to use this for the people who don't understand why im not doing air traffic control at the moment.
So some background July 2011 I was in my 3rd month of my 6 month air traffic control training, I was with my South African girlfriend for 2 years and I had played a few games of sc2 vs ai from cabracan and our sweedish friend Quarenten. I simply feel in love with the game. Now some things about air traffic control hindered my playing time considerably like the fact i was at course 6 hours a day then studying 6 hours a day for a test every week i had to get 90% or above on every week, these tests generally had 100-300 questions in them. The line the Head of Airways used at the beginning of the course was "you will have no life and have no friends" at this time I was struggling to see my girlfriend more than once a week and she was the clingy sort and saw my best friends once during the six month course.
So 26 of July 2011 came around and I had loved this game and wanted to play the campaign like nothing else and knew it was coming out sooooooooo I may have done a very stupid thing in the long term by being like you know what im taking the night off and beating this campaign....... 6 hours after the midnight launch "o shit i have course in ten minutes". Saddly this was all i played until september where within one week my girlfriend cheated on me ending my relationship with her and had an earthquake you might've heard about that screwed up my sleeping pattern. At this point I told airways i was struggling to sleep as I'm a light sleeper and 6-20 aftershocks a night wern't helping, this lead to me failing a the second to last paper test in the course twice and being asked to coming back in a few years when i gain more "life skills".
Not being able to really do anything til feb, when uni started, if i wanted to do uni and very sad from my relationship ending. I decided to do something new and something i enjoyed to take my mind off it. I threw myself into starcraft 2.
Now a few of you may know that Cabracan was my orginal teacher, what a lot of you probably didn't know is i started off as Zerg in bronze because i thought they would be easier with less buildings and "look like more fun". I don't know what league i got to before i changed to the race i saw winning all the time and the one my teacher plays, Terran. To this day i still feel dirty with the timing attacks Cabracan was teaching me. All those douchebag strats >.<. I actually got to masters as terran. It was about this time a mate of mine who was part of nGen (can't remember what his nGen id orginally was) but is now HazelSix started adding me into games to show me how good players play people like nGens Light, Mafia, Jazbas, Soft, Wild play and all i could think watching these games was man Wilds a docuhebag landing tanks on the high ground of lost temple. At this point I decided screw being a douchbag im gona win this game with class, so i switched again to the classiest race Brotoss.
Now seeing these guys play i wanted to get to the point i could train with them and beat them, unfortunitly by the time i was "good enough" for nGen Soft was gone even with my diamond level toss winning my first ever streamed match vs Tgun on stream Benji . Side note close positions lost temple i 4 gated him he made units and I just did it slowly and somehow won idk was noob and game was imbalanced but me being noob was super happy. Anyway the way i got to sc2sea was through looking for the nGen requirements i came across a link to sc2sea's clan page.
Somehow from there i got to chatbox and saw people talking about the game. So ofc as all newcomers to sc2sea do and should i introduced myself and started talking to people in sc2sea. I believe that first person was none other than Erasmus who as many of you know is very down to earth and have had some amazing chats with over my sc2sea time.
So yea i wrote quite a bit and im pretty sure i've bored you all but thats how i came to this site anyway. theres a few things i can't remember when they happened but thats the general plot summary. But yea interesting side notes from that were i hated hitting delete on ladder cos i always losed, i didn't know about gl hf gg so just f10 N a lot something i still have issues doing when im laddering, I learnt a lot from Benjis stream, Tgun was my favourite zerg for ages actually he still is but hardly the point, QXC was the most watched player my Cabracan and I cos hes funny :P, and Light/Ray was the player id spam benjis chat to watch as i knew he was awesome :P.
yea hope that didn't bore you guys too much but meh had a rough day and got asked to so why not
peace
I definitely enjoyed the read, I think you could add the from when you found sc2 till now and it would be pretty awesome. Also it wouldn't have been a stally blog without poor grammar !
Also Sheepshagger has a point, you should have stayed as zerg LOL.
i knew my grammar would suck im sooo tired at this point but had a shit day and wanted to do something positive today so meh :P i was going to write up to the point i made crux but felt i had written heaps and no1 would be reading it anyway
Great read! I wish I was involved with the community back when it all started. I had SC2 upon release but I only found SC2SEA in March 2012 and it's been a big year since then.. but I miss not being a part of the founding days
