Hi everyone my name is Caviar Napoleon Acampado aka "EnDerr" From Philippines playing PSISTORM Gaming. I've been competing in Starcraft 2 tournaments since WOL. Last WCS s2 I reached top 4 but unfortunately had to FF my matches because of bad ping.*
I’m wondering if something can be done so SEA players will have good ping to AUS when competing for WCS or AUS having good ping to SEA/KR so there will be no issue like what happened on WCS S2.*
There were no issues in Season 1 since pings are all good for SEA to AUS and AUS to SEA/KR but because of sudden change of cables/etc… everything is messed up. Before WCS S2 happened, I already know that my ping is 400 in AUS even if it's the default server but I didn't mind cause I thought AUS players are capable to ladder in NA/KR/SEA.
But as you know in the last WCS tournament I was surprised that my opponent cannot play on all these servers so the rule was enforced to use the stated server AUS.
My concern is, If WCS ANZ/SEA will be in one big qualifier again and it will be prioritize for AUS only because of AUS default server, then this only means that AUTO GG for me. *I realize previously I was lucky that the players I played on S2 are kind enough/doesnt have bad issue on SEA/KR, so we played in SEA or KR.
My SC2 career depends on this, that's why I wanna know if things will be resolved or be changed cause if not, there will be no point for me to continue playing Starcraft anymore since WCS ANZ/SEA is the only qualifer I can join base on my region and as we all know, it's the tournament all players are fighting for.*
Philippine SC2 died 2 years ago, SEA events is like once in a year only, WCS is the only reason why I still play this game fulltime and if same thing will happen again on S3 (Me playing on 400 Ping on Ro4) Will be just a complete waste of time.
It's important to note that this is the ANZ qualifier and as there is no SEA qualifier SEA nationals are invited to join the ANZ qualifiers.
I see three options moving forward:
1) lobby blizzard to give SEA its own qualifier separate from ANZ
2) hope and pray the cable problem is fixed by next season
3) travel to Australia for the Ro16 and Ro4 weekend and play from Australia.
Another thought would be to add onto another region if thats something you feel would be better for you? Maybe speak with Blizzard regarding change to TW qualifiers if that gives you better ping?
Issue is its ANZ qualifier and no ANZ player should risk 250+ ping with spikes to be sportsman. There is too much on the line to give that much of an advantage imo.

Guess that explains all.
#1-3 are not good idea but I'm hoping for #2 since S1 everyone can play KR/SEA/NA, It's just now that Some of SEA players suddenly have 400 ping on AUS and some AUS cannot play in any other region than AUS.

I don't think its a good solution also. That's actually brutal since i've been competing my whole sc2 career on SEA/AUS then just because of this, I will have to be transferred on other region.
Well, I understand anything that is happening tbh, since majority are AUS that participate and its like 3-4 SEA players only for SEA... won't be surprise if they wanna let SEA really die... I mean it's dead already tho.
I hope cables will be fixed again and if not, best for me is give me an option if I wanna play on TW and stil stick to SEA/AUS. Tho I still want to play on SEA/AUS.
I don't know, I hope Blizzard or whoever is responsible can come up with a solution. Thanks for the ideas ChadMann.
This is so crappy. Not only you, but so many others from various regions have been reporting increases of 40,50,60+ ping lately for no apparent reason.
I do hope blizz realizes there IS an issue right now with servers, and is able to fix it.
You're one more person I really want to meet at an Aussie lan someday EnDerr, best of luck with getting all this sorted. !

Yeah, same thought.. When my internet is fine but their connections are not. Maybe not really meant for me :'(
No enderr. The answer is not to give up. We will find a way. I know that ive been getting spikes of 1000ms on SEA and usual ping increaswd to about 250 from 190... there is a problem and quittinf or running away is not the solution.
Im sure the community is behind you. We will make it possible for you to compete. Just dont make any huge decisions while the hurt from what happened is still fresh with you.

Enderr fighting!!~
Thank you ChadMann.. I really hope this cables get fixed.
I feel for you EnDerr.
I'm not as good as you but I've always wanted to get better results and make Japan less irrelevant in SC2, so problems like this worry me too.
I hope we will find a good solution, which benefits not only you but also other SEA comrades as a result, and doesn't disadvantage ANZ brothers.
I hope sending us SEA players to diff country just to compete on S3 is not the last option. Yes it will solve the WCS problem but not for other tournaments.
WCS is the only tournament thats important enough to not be happy with compromising on ping for you. International travel is #1... might be the only time you need to play on aus server.

This coming 1k cup is also important since it includes huge OSC points.
