Hello my friends and foes it has been a while. Its me the one and only stodd who made the infamous PvZ Zerg is op blog post a few years back. Ive taken a huge break from starcraft about close to a years worth. Every now and again during hots id play like team games but 1v1 i had stopped grinding since i gotten into CS:GO back in early 2014. With the release of LOTV i felt that i needed to purchase the expansion for the sake of finishing off the starcraft 2 campaign (which btw if you havent played the campaign i suggest you set some time to do so its brilliant) and to try out some of the new units. Before long i thought to myself its been a while since i have played this game properly, i'll play a couple of unranked games just to see how this game is still like and to see where im at on the skill side of things.
Despite my mechanics still being fairly solid i was getting crushed to gold and plat players cause i had no clue what i was doing in this expansion/meta. i felt out of place and wanted to return back to CS:GO a lot of times. But i was somehow determined to prove to myself im still as good as my old self was. So after watching a lot of streams and videos and getting some friendly people in "adopt a newb" chat to show me some styles to replicate after a lot of unranked play i started to get the hang of things and decided to try out ranked 1v1 again.
During my 5 placement matches i had a tough road. Versing off against 1 gold, 2 plats 1 diamond and 1 master. i managed to win 3 of 5 of the games (for interest sake beat the gold 1 plat and 1 diamond lost to plat and masters) and got placed in plat (i know generous i thought). So i wasnt satisfied with this due to me being a multi diamond player during hots and late WoL so i decided to grind games. I have had some lump sided games and freaking way too lose games, once where i won in a base race with one pylon left with like under 20 hit points left after clearing his small army that went to kill what buildings i had left at my main base. Ive raged a lot in some of these games where i would lose games i had won due ti silly mistakes. I had won games i should of lost due to dumb luck (or due to one guy move commanding half his army which i picked off for free). I even had a stage where i was sick of losing to a certain race (zerg or terran) and next game i would queue up 1v1 as that race in frustration of losing to an "op unit" (which ofc once doing that i lose more games then i had won). But with the sweat and tears (not much blood to be honest) that i leaked from my body i eventually regained my composure and surly enough, luck came my way.
I managed to make it back into diamond in the new expansion. I wanna thank all the people that had helped me get back into this game of starcraft 2. Hopefully i can make some more progress and break into masters with a bit of more dumb luck and less rage! (However inevitably i will rage more and lose games but lets be optimistic am i right? XD)
Thank you for reading this (if you have) and its good to be back!
