Australia was somewhere that I've always wanted to visit. All the beautiful sceneries that I've heard of, the slow-paced culture that it has (compared to Singapore’s relatively pressurizing one), and everything else it has to offer, definitely made me want to travel there. And this year, I had the opportunity. Thanks to x5 and NVIDIA, I’ve got a chance to travel to Sydney!
Day One
After spending my first hour in Sydney soil, the first impression was how expensive the public transportation was. The bus from International Airport to Domestic Airport was 5.50AUD, and the train trip to our hotel cost 16.40AUD! From that, I’ve come to appreciate Singapore’s public transport more.
First day was just touring around the city. It was beautiful; I almost thought I was in a European country. A cool bunch (thanks tgun, Chris, MiLes and gang!) brought KingKong, Blysk and I for sightseeing in the icy cold weather, and the sight was so breathtaking, that I’ll let the picture do the talking:
Day Two/Three
Then came the day why we flew here for. Tournament day. Everything looks professionally set up. The stage venue was sick:
The waiting time...not really:
Six hours later, I got to play my Group Stage. I got taken out By SCLN.Law in the first match 2-0, and only then managed to gain my composure to barely beat both SCLN.Pezz and Fray’Alopex 2-1. My matches continued the next day, with me winning Runamok 2-0 and losing to RivaL 1-2. With that, I got knocked out of the tournament. It hit me hard. I was out. No more second chances, no more restart buttons. All the effort that I’ve put in, nearly a thousand games over the past two months, was gone. Those who know me well know that I like to bash myself and be hard on myself when I lose (in order to improve in the future), and that meant that I sulked for a good few hours before finally coming to term with my loss.
NXZ took out RivaL and KingKong managed to win the tournament eventually though, so that was good.
And with that, I sum up my blog. Thanks x5 and NVIDIA for giving me this opportunity! It was great meeting all the cool and good-looking people in Sydney, and I’m sorry if I wasn’t very talkative as I was pretty sick and I didn’t have much quality sleep. ;_; I’d love to meet you all again, though!!
P.S. The last day was just someone bringing me around to enjoy what Sydney had to offer, and visiting Taronga Zoo.
^_^ was good to met you Rev. Probably one of the most friendly people i met all weekend
even though we hadn't talked much or even at all, it felt like we had been friends for a long time
Yeah you were definitely one of my favourite new people to meet, super friendly Badluck in your run, a few bad sets and the tournament is over for anyone
Hope you can come back for some more ACLs
