Lately there have been a LOT of events overlapping and it's doing more damage to the scene than most people realise. For the past 12 months or so, I've been keeping a Google docs spreadsheet listing all of the events happening in (or relevant to) Australia and SEA. I've been sharing this document with a select number of people (ACL Staff, Blizzard staff, a few players) in order to keep them informed about upcoming events, however due to the sensitive/confidential nature of some events, I couldn't make this document public.
Inherently, this is the biggest problem. Everyone likes to launch out of nowhere with a great announcement about the next big event that's going to blow everyone away - without communicating with others. People need to be more transparent and co-ordinate with fellow organisations/managers and the community so that everyone can arrange their schedules, travel, accommodation, etc.
So anyway - here's what I plan to do. I'm going to create a replica of my spreadsheet, but I'm going to be editing out the sensitive/confidential events and replacing them with placeholder labels. At the very least, this will allow people to see exactly what dates aren't available during planning.
Here's an example screenshot below:
Shall post more information about this again soon.
EDIT: Also gonna add in a pet peeve. Please, people, stop calling things "leagues" and "invitationals" when you're hosting a standalone 1-day tournament with qualifiers! It's getting out of control!
P.S. Don't even think about scheduling anything on the weekend of June 28th & 29th. It's the only weekend left over for me to allocate towards ACL Online Rounds lol. Such a stacked month.

Ill make sure sponsors run the names of tournaments by you next time

Why are there so many events in June? That's exam month for everyone isn't it?
I know it's good to have the main events in July when more people can probably attend, but if you host qualifiers in June your will probably have a weaker showing that if you had the qualifiers in the beginning of July and the main event at the end of July when holidays are about to end. This of course only really applies to those still in school and less so for those who work.
If we had the money, we could form an governing body for SC2 in Australia that can help prevent clashes and stacked months etc. Unfortunately eSports is still young and a little unstable at the moment.
Don't you mean.. Thanks Derek for being a total baller and collaborating this amazing database of upcoming events?!
He asked people to be mindful of what they named events, since this applied to a tournie im currently running for ASUS ROG/ Kingston I thought id help where I could
