nirvAnA: Here is a mini spoiler - the SEA Star League #2 (SEASL) will be announced when SEACL finishes. SEASL will be run during the SEACL off-seasons so we have a nice variety of tournaments everyone can join throughout the year. There will be plenty of open qualifiers and HALF of them will be open players with NA access as well, for added exposure and competition and also because its what our Sponsors wishes. Many details are still not yet decided (Like the name, might change it) but will be when SEACL comes to an end so expect an announcement then. Now to introduce the man responsible for bring back the SEA Star League!
Special Edition: Sponsor Spotlight #2
with Lemminks!
Behind the Wheels of the SEASL
A spin off of the Get To Know Your SEA series, the Sponsor Spotlight aims to shed some light on the unsung heroes of sc2sea: The Donators. Without these generous souls sc2sea wouldn't have been this awesome!
For this spotlight, I have a Behind the Wheels of the SEASL special and joining me today is the main man who, with his generous donations of $200 to the site and $750 to SEASL#2, is making it all happen. He has a great interest in eSports all around the world, is a benevolent soul and can give YYJ a run for his money for all night partying! He is The Yank in a Tank:
Lemminks: For those of us who don't know who you are, why don't you start by telling us a little bit about yourself.
Soulja: My names Joshua Loya, I go by Josh. I live in the States! Dallas, Texas is where I reside. 19 years of age and I've been working for my father's company since I was 13 and was prepped as far back as I can remember! I'm currently attending Northwood University, a strictly business oriented college. I picked up Starcraft back in the day, the first Starcraft of course. I would play casually, until SC2 came out. I joined the beta, and became very competitive. It's been a fun hobby ever since.
Lemminks: Care to elaborate on what your father's company does and what your role in it is?
Soulja: Proudly. Fred Loya Insurance. A car insurance company (now does home). Started in my hometown of El Paso, Texas. Now you can find us in six states at your convenience.
As far as my role goes, I started off in the mailroom, moved up to your sales representative, to your adjuster handling claims. Now I'll travel with corporate executives of the company where need be, whether it'd be training sessions, meetings, etc. All over the course of 5 years.
The family
Lemminks: A prodigy, brilliant. There's actually a lot of insurance companies advertising in Australia, they're on in every ad break.
Anyway, what surprised me was the fact that you're American, any particular reason for donating to the SEA scene as opposed to, say, hosting a small tournament in your home country (for example I remember reading about a Texas showdown on liquidpedia once)?
Soulja: Honestly, what brought me to the SEA section was their Grandmaster Manual Guide!! Didn't have a clue as to what the SEA was, it didn't matter at the time - the manual did! Over the course of several days with the manual, the site, I grew to learn some of the members by reading various posts on the forums, exploring the store, etc. As well as a few PMs from Nirvana because I had a little trouble downloading the TW\KR version of SC2 XD (which is awesome BTW!) Ever since, I've grown to visit the site normally.
I would maybe have done it in my home country, but I also wanted to donate to SEA for all your help, the guide, the TW\KR version, etc. I felt like I owed a little to SEA community.
Also, I wouldn't be able to single-handedly host a tournament at the size I'd want it to be. I want it to attract a lot of players, top level players, and I know Nirvana, the staff, and SEA can do that.
Lemminks: Well I'm pretty sure that the format Nirvana and the other admins have chosen suits your vision perfectly.
You seem to go by several IGN's (In Game Name), soulja on sc2sea and BEASTMODE on sc2, do you have a permanent IGN in particular and if so where did it come from?
Soulja: Soulja was spur of the moment, but 98% of the time - I am BEASTMODE. The name came from my high school days at the gym, on the track field, the football field. They would call me BEASTMODE when I was... I guess BEASTMODE lol XD I was a gym fanatic since 7th grade and I've always been a little slim - so other students, JV, and Varsity would be surprised at the weight I'd put up as a freshmen and what not. So I was given the name by my upper classmen.
Beast. Baller. The whole package
Lemminks: Hehe, Beast was one of my favourite phases that the Americans would always say when I was in Japan.
So despite being a complete baller at the gym, have video games, and the Starcraft series in particular, always been a big part of your life?
Soulja: Oh definitely, I was always VERY competitive even at an early age, with FPS games. Like the Halo series, the Gears of War series, the Modern Warfare series. Halo 2 I would say was my peak. I would attend tournaments and receive no lower then 2nd place at my events. I looked up MLG events on the official website and try to fly out there, but my parents thought it was ridiculous Lol XD. This was my 8th grade through Freshmen year, so unfortunately I never made it past your online and local tourneys.
The MKP of FPS's
Another game that's not listed in that category, was Dance Dance Revolution.
That also went beyond just being a fun hobby. Every weekend, when my parents would allow, I'd be at your local Peter Piper Pizza 3+ hours on DDR. For months. I increased my skill, I was able to play on the Expert level. I went on also to online tourneys, we didn't have many local tourneys in El Paso at the time (two minor events).
Lemminks: Brilliant to see eSports was always a big part of your life.
As someone who seems to follow a fair number of eSports scenes (such as the FPS's and DDR), in your opinion how does the Starcraft eSports scene match up against the others?
Soulja: No comparison!!
MLG Providence was amazing!! I didn't actually go but I was up to date on all the vids, all that good stuff. I was so surprised when I saw how full the stadium was!! I loved it! I also tune into GOMTV.net daily. I have my yearly subscription and I always watch the VODS to improve gameplay or just to see who's coming up, who's coming down (SlayerS_Boxer -_-). Sometimes I'll stay up till 3AM just to watch them live.
The SC2 fans are so dedicated to the scene, it's amazing. The Korean players, especially SlayerS have so much passion in the game. It's awesome. Also, casters like Artosis, Tasteless, Day 9, Mr Bitter, Husky make the game all that better. The SC2 scene wouldn't be the same without them, and I believe we owe them our gratitude and thanks.
On another note, it may seem like too much. DDR, Halo, GoW, MW3. But I no longer play those games competitively, or hardly at all. I'll jump on MW3 on a rainy day, but doesn't catch my interest as much as it, or FPS in general. It's all in the past. Just Starcraft for now.
RTS's moving forward
Lemminks: Are there any other hobbies that demand your attention?
Soulja: I love snowboarding, with a passion. But I don't go enough to get "good" at it. Just on the holidays, to get away. Ruidoso, New Mexico the Ski Apache slopes is where you'll find me during the Christmas season.
Lemminks: LOL there seems to be quite the positive correlation between people who love Starcraft and people who love Snowboarding/Skiing.
Soulja: Is that so? Are there others on the SEA scene that love the snow as well? XD
Lemminks: Yep, JoFritzMD, who sponsored the SEACL #2, is apparently an "arctic creature that has Ski's for feet."
Soulja: LOL!! I love it!!
Lemminks: Well to finish off, what are you hopes for the eSports scene in SEA and the World?
Soulja: My hopes for the eSports scene in SEA and the World...
My hopes for the eSports scene in SEA is that I hope it continues to grow, not only in SEA, but in the world. It's come a long way in the USA, I hope this growth continues worldwide. The day Time Warner Cable, Dish TV, DirecTV get a dedicated eSports channel... That'll be the day XD.
Lemminks: Well I've had an absolute blast conducting this interview with you. Thank you so much for being such a Beast and thank you once again for donating ^^.
Soulja: No problem! Thanks again.
Lemminks: Any shoutouts before we go?
Soulja: Shoutouts to any of the users? Is that what you mean?
Lemminks: Well anyone in general, this is the part where you go listing a bunch of names while we pull you off stage ^^.
Soulja: Nirvana - I felt like I owed him for his help with my general introduction to the SC2SEA scene, and his continuous help with SC2SEA store.
And I know a certain someone is going to read this - She stays up with me watching me play SC2, she nagged at me to get off while QxGDestiny was coaching me, she watches replays with me at times, every night - Carmen Carrillo. .
SWAGs (Starcraft Wives and Girlfriends), the most supportive of all the sporting special other.
Lemminks: Bonus Question: Any plans for visiting the Lovely SEA Region?
Soulja: Oh man.. to be continued. (..Nirvana check your PMs in the near future! XD)

A collection of profiles aimed to entertain the SEA community where you get an inside peek into the people behind the screen names. Its a chance to learn more about your favourite SEA players, find out the babe that turns them on, discover their favourite music, the players they respect and their Arch-Nemsis, etc and its all basically done in good fun.
This has been outdated for sometime but I've finally had the time to do a massive update as well as add new additions to our database. There are a lot of deserving players that should be in here and in the coming week you will see many other famous players and community figures added!
I want one! How can I get one? Winning a CO entitles you to a Who's Who profile but it can also be awarded if you are a standout player, manager, admin or a rising star that deserves the spotlight. Basically this is something which you cannot ask for and when the time comes, if deserving you will receive a profile request from me
Lastly, if anyone could come up with a nicer format/layout it would be much appreciated! Did something with System's profile here but I still think it can be presented better, I'm just not good in this! paperclip, deL, froggy help! The final installment the return of Who's Who: Part 3 will come somewhere towards the end of the weekend.
To make this short, we have been given an additional 10 betakeys to giveaway to the community.
5 will be reserved for SC2SEA SEAL admins / staff who ask for them
5 will be given out to people who reply to the following question in this news post
What are you looking forward to most in Diablo 3?
Creativity and detail will be rewarded so if you really wanted to get your hands on D3 nows the time to post something! You can go on and create / answer your own questions like how hard you intend to play etc as long as its Diablo 3 related which people would enjoy reading.
Contest will end in 2 days or after receiving 50+ replies, whichever comes first and winners will be decided by nirvAnA the dictator.
Match 1 (Cloud Kingdom): NoThanxSPR 0-2 xetech
Match 2: XenomorphSPR 2-0 tbhfoO
Match 3: SatuSPR 2-1 zFxJYoong
Match 4: BlitzSPR 1-2 onsMARSHALL
Match 5 (Daybreak - Ace): KangSPR 0-2 IGfai
clan vK/eXo have pulled out. so we will be going back and awarding all their games as 6-0 walk overs and all future games of theirs too.
so iRL/TA who had to play them get a bye this round and WNG gets a bye due to the odd number of teams.

Thanks to positive word of mouth from current subscribers, TGM continues to expand so its only natural we add more quality coaches to continue providing a high quality level of service to our new members in terms of replay analysis, strategy discussion, replay packs and options in choosing their coach. Today we are proud to introduce SQLTt.HuT & Eldrid to our TGM coaching lineup!
Although they may not be as accomplished as the other coaches in terms of tournament finishes yet, they are both underrated high level players like YaMaMa who was basically unknown when appointed as a TGM coach and went on to finish #2 with a 70% win rate on the Season 5 ladder. Both these guys have been getting lots of positive feedback in the member replay analysis thread and you should be able to see some good results from both of them soon, it should only be a matter of time now!
Their names and coaching rates have been added and can be found on SC2SEA's official coaching roster. Lastly, TGM will also be undergoing a big update over the next week to reflect the most current GSL builds with several new BOs and replays being added for each section.
Download the HuT + Eldrid replaypack over here where they take on players like iNkA, mOOnGLaDe, MaFia, VileState, JaBito, Light, etc
HuT has been a part of the SC2SEA community from the very start. In fact, his member ID is 17, meaning he was the 17th person to register on this site!! In the early days he helped come up with our first ever weekly and match reviews. Back then he was also the first one to come up with the idea of having our own tees - I told him it was too early still. And look what happened a year later, he became our Mr. May Tee Shirt poster boy haha! He later moved into casting, and then streaming emerging steadily as a very strong player. His talent was soon recognized and he was picked up by the pro team Sequential Gaming and later on by the social clan aLt. He most recently took mOOnGLaDe out in the SGL lan, being partly responsible for his elimination. When he is not spending time with his girlfriend, HuT enjoys streaming his games, attending community events like Barcrafts, helping members out in the replay review thread and in general being a nice and contributive member of our community!
Server Access: SEA / NA / KR Hourly fee: $20 Package fee: $70 / 4 hours Contact:nickhutton93@hotmail.com / Skype: nicholas.hutton93
Before any coaching is taken place, I will ask for a set of replays and your general gameplan for each matchup. From here, we chat about what happened in your replay and show you why it was good / bad. From there we discuss problems you face in each matchup, and work out ways to solve them whether they be build, mechanic or decision making related. In the end, I wish to leave you with a solid understanding of each specific matchup and feeling confident in both your macromanagement and decision making.
Like fellow TGM subscriber turned coach YaMaMa, Eldrid started off more than 6 months ago as a TGM subscriber coached by the legendary mOOnGLaDe. Eldrid began to get get very good at the game himself and in a short time managed to hit GM. To pickup some valuable coaching experience, he first offered anyone in the community his coaching for free, and received alot of positive feedback for his coaching. Eldrid continues to be very helpful in the forums and in the replay review threads and an active figure in the tournament scene and we hope to hear more from this up and coming player, who just took down iaguz in the City Hunter LAN 2-1 this morning!
10th-12th at most city hunter LAN tournaments in sydney (always knocked out by top 5 SEA player)
12th - SGL 6 (Stacked sydney tournament)
Other new TGM member features:
A secret channel where subscribers and coaches hang out for our members to get quality practice games.
Perks like individual high level replay analysis of their games (over 70+ done so far) for any member done as a complimentary service by the coaches / authors of TGM.
Our coaches often release exclusive ladder replays of their games to our members as well as give the "free hour" at a heavily discounted rate when signing up with our TGM coaching bundle.
xGKing vs eVe
These two teams have had some rivalry recently, and they will be looking to settle it once and for all in this unforgiving all-kill format! Who will prevail, the professional Australian team or the well-established Singapore-based team? Starting Players: pokerface vs EveRors (previously 'Rorschach')
nRv '"Girlfriend name is left hand" vs WNG "Ninja Donkey Summer Paradise"
It's the clash of the two teams who have arguably the best names of the tournament! Will Nerve Gaming's stellar team beat the strong WNG team that has only dropped one game in this tournament? Starting Players: Kez vs wTPetraeus
Mith vs SPR
MITH has gone unbeaten in the SEACC while SPR is definitely known to be no pushover. Can the Korean (well, not exactly) SPR defeat the Thais of MITH? Starting Players: MiTHjump vs SunginSPR
Herocraft vs nRv 'right hand'
With the Prince of SEA and one of the best SEA players not to play on SEA, Herocraft is a favourite to go far in this competition. But first, they have to get past the mettle of Nerve Gaming, who have some solid Masters players in their lineup. Starting Players: proTimber vs ignorance.340
TA (Team 1) vs Zerocraft (Team 1)
SEA's most popular clan will take on SEACC's newest clan (well maybe not), specially formed just for this tournament. Zerocraft has been showing impressive results in SEACL recently as well, but can they overcome the Aussie powerhouse Terror Australis? Starting Players: TASensei vs nGenFlar
Mineski vs team tDp and eve
Mineski boasts one of the strongest Zergs SEA has ever seen in Ender, the Filipino ace. Will the combined-clan team of tDP and eVe be able to get united enough to beat Ender and his solid Mineski lineup? Starting Players: MskiWaning vs EveBobbles (previously 'tDpbob')
Clan Iris vs SPR Team 2
After knocking out tournament favourites and defending champions (Yea, there are many favourites) aLt, Clan Iris is riding high on confidence. But will this wave of confidence be enough to beat the second string of SPR? Starting Players: IrisCrimson vs SatuSPR
inFi vs ToT "all SB"
With two Singaporean aces, the always-strong Revenant and the naturally-talented iceiceice, inFi is a tough team to beat. This task will come down to the second team of Trick or Treat... are they up to the challenge? Starting Players: inFiTarga vs adybToT.522 iMaster
If due to some unforeseen circumstances your player can't turn up and you need to change the player, your opponents are allowed to reselect their player after knowing your new starting player
Walkovers : If a team fails to show up at the official time without informing the admin or the other team, - After 15 minutes, 1-0 to present team. After 30 minutes, complete walkover.
You agree to be patient and considerate for the duration of the event should any unforeseen difficulties arise, and acknowledge that the supervising administrator designated to your bracket has full authority over decisions pertaining to the game and may enforce the rules at his or her discrepancy.
Tournament administrators are free to join any game that they see fit. You are not to refuse entry to a caster or commentator and failure to do so may result in disqualification.
You agree that by entering this tournament that you will not publicly slander or reproach any of the staff or sponsors associated with this tournament on any public medium. Bad manner will not be tolerated. We make this competition on our free time so please, don't waste it.To make it simple, if you act bad mannered, you're banned. Same goes for stream cheating. (FYI this along with the rest of the general rules were what Frogmite came up with 3 weeks ago.)
"Smurfing" which includes 1) The use of another players handle to hide your identity 2) Playing twice for your team by logging into a team mate's account 3) Not identifying yourself when you are a known player, etc This is considered cheating and will result in a ban for the player and a ban or other punishment for the team. It is the team leader's responsibility to ensure all his members are legit and the team will be held responsible. Be smart guys, don't cheat / smurf.
There are to be no spectators of any kind except the aforementioned administrators and the casters UNLESS both teams agree.
You may not include players based outside of Southeast Asia or Oceania in your team unless an Admin has granted special consideration, so check with us first if in doubt.
You must own your own legal copy of StarCraft II for the SEA server.
The team managers must own a legal account of Paypal if they wish to receive their cash prizes.
Streaming/casting - You are free to stream whatever you want as long as it doesn't infringe on the main caster's games (one for each league) and the players on both teams are okay with it.
Streaming of games is based on volunteers and not every round or match is guaranteed a stream. There will be an official stream for each division. The caster will be free to get a co-caster or not. He will have priority towards other streamers.
The prize is a clan logo thanks to TCPmagik. Once the finalists are determined from league play it is the clan leader's responsibility to discuss creative decisions with myself or magik regarding their possible clan logo. Magik is very talented and is doing it for free, as a service for SEA community. Always keep that in mind when you discuss with him about your logo.
Streamed matches: Should your match be streamed, the games generally will not be played "concurrently", instead they will happen one by one so all games can be streamed. The team leaders are to mutually agree between themselves on the order of which player goes first, and try to accommodate their player's request (e.g if they need to go), etc whenever possible. Should an agreement not be reached, then all the people who MUST leave early will just play their matches concurrently right away.
All other rules and regulations and matchup rescheduling guidelines follow what is stated in this thread.
Team captains are reminded that they are to compile and keep all replays in the case of any disputes.
We are adding ESV Cloud Kingdom to the map pool of Sharn Kemp Premier League. Once i find a way to upload gsl metropolis on SEA we will add this one too.

TA are trying to redeem themselves with the rounds remaining this season. And by taking out one of the top two teams of the season so far Mineski would greatly help there cause. Fighting for honor and pride will be what they hope carry's them over the line in the process giving Mineski a scare and reminding them no team is safe.
